A radon training for the company Bundesbau Baden-Württemberg around the topic "Radon protection in new buildings".
In the context of a half-day radon training our speaker Mrs. Claudia Befeld was invited to explain to approx. 25 architects of the company Bundesbau Baden-Württemberg the effects of the new German Radiation Protection Law and the Radiation Protection Ordinance, with a view to responsibilities and possibilities in the matter of radon protection in construction.
Unfortunately, there is still a lack of information in many places on the subject of "Radon legislation and effects on the construction industry"; this gap must be closed. The broad-based consideration of this complex topic was not only about legal regulations, but also about explaining the background of radon protection legislation in an understandable way. The health risks associated with elevated radon concentrations indoors, the chronological development of the legislation from the relevant EURATOM Directive to the New German Radiation Protection Act, the relevant paragraphs for the construction industry and, of course, the significance and implementation in practice provided plenty of material for the lecture and also for the question-and-answer session.
The conclusion of the joint "journey" through the extensive topic was an outlook on upcoming EU requirements arising from the "GreenDeal" formed in 2019: What is a climate-neutral house? What impact do increasingly dense buildings have on us humans? How can architecture/planning/executing trades manage the balancing act between CO² savings/reduced air exchange rate and healthy indoor air?
Exciting content that will occupy us as a radon specialist company as well as the building industry in the coming years.
