Warning of nuclear radiation from the shelling of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant.

Due to the renewed shelling of the largest European nuclear power plant Zaporizhzhya - which has been occupied by Russian troops since the spring, the danger of a leak of radioactive substances is growing.

Russia and Ukraine blame each other for the shelling! Ukrainian intelligence reported that Russian troops took the NPP under fire several times within a day from a village a few kilometers away. Whereas the Russian Defense Ministry blames Ukrainian troops for the attacks.

It is clear - that security breaches can occur and the standards for protection against radioactive radiation are violated!

According to a spokesman, shells hit near a storage facility with fuel rods as well as radioactive waste, and other shells hit a facility where nuclear fuel is stored.

Despite the repeated shelling, the radiation situation is currently said to be in the normal range. The state power plant operator Enerhoatom said that Ukrainian personnel at the Zaporizhzhya NPP are making every effort to ensure radiation safety.
