You can simply set up the PRD exposimeters in your premises and document the measurements using the log provided. The measurement duration can be determined individually, but it is recommended to measure for a whole year in order to know the exact radon situation in your home.

Meaningful values

The PRD exposimeter can provide meaningful values after just one month using the core trace measurement method. However, for optimum radon detection, a measurement period of at least 3 months, preferably 1 year, is recommended.

Laboratory evaluation included

After the laboratory analysis, which takes approximately 4-6 weeks, you will receive a detailed test report with the cumulative average values over the measurement period.

NOTE ON EVALUATION

Please send your exposimeters in their original packaging, including the measurement report, directly to the ALTRAC test laboratory. You will find the address on the enclosed measurement report.
For organisational reasons, you will not receive a confirmation of receipt from the testing laboratory.
Depending on the volume, it may take 4 to 6 weeks to analyse the exposimeters.
All exposimeters are stored in a cool and radon-proof place until they are analysed so that your measurement results are not falsified.
Your results report, including a recommendation based on your measurement data, will be sent to the email address you provided when ordering.

WHAT IS RADON?

What makes radon so dangerous?

Radon is a highly carcinogenic, radioactive noble gas
that you cannot see, smell or taste. If you breathe in high levels of radon and its radioactive by-products over a longer period of time, the risk of developing lung cancer increases considerably.

Increases the risk of lung cancer

After smoking, radon is one of the most important causes of lung cancer. According to current findings, around five percent of deaths from lung cancer in Germany (over 1,900 per year) are attributable to radon and its decay products in buildings.

Take precautionary measures!

Only by measuring can you be sure of the actual radon levels in a building. Small measures are often all that is needed to significantly reduce indoor radon levels and the risk of lung cancer.

MEASUREMENT TIPS

Meaningful radon measurement in detached houses

In order to carry out a meaningful radon measurement in single-family homes, which can also be used to determine an annual average value

at least two (2) living rooms should be measured (e.g. bedroom, children's room, living room).
at least one (1) living room per occupied floor should be measured.
the length of the measurement period should be between 3 and 12 months. If you cannot wait 12 months, you should adhere to the minimum measurement period of 3 months (min. 88 days) during the heating period (October - April) in order not to underestimate the annual average value.
each detached house must have its own measurement package.
the measurement instructions must be followed exactly.

The basement as a cause of increased radon concentration

Soil air containing radon primarily enters the interior of the building through leaks in the basement. Typical entry points are, for example, cable and pipe penetrations, cracks in the floor slab, leaking drains or other openings to the ground. The highest radon levels are also usually to be expected here. Due to the so-called chimney effect, negative pressure is generated in the house, which sucks radon-containing soil air into the building through the above-mentioned leaks. The radon gas then spreads to higher floors.

We therefore recommend measuring all basement rooms at the same time. This is a simple and inexpensive way of determining which cellar rooms are causally linked to elevated values on the upper floors. This mapping helps to determine the entry paths and to derive appropriate remedial measures.

Radomessung für Anfänger
Wir haben uns für unser Einfamilienhaus drei RadonTec Radon Exposimeter gekauft. Nach drei Monaten Messung, wurden die Exposimeter von meiner Frau an das Labor geschickt (ist nicht der Radonshop sondern ein Dakks akkreditiertes Labor). Werte waren schlechter als erwartet, mit knapp 400Bq im Keller. Wir haben uns jetzt noch ein Radoneye gekauft um die Radonmessung über die nächsten Monate, gerade im Winter, mit zubegleiten.

Langzeitmessung mit Durchschnittswerten
hab mir zwei Radontec radon exposimeter für eine Langzeit Radonmessung geholt.

Finde die Exposimeter gut, Ergebnisse sind auch wie erwartet und stimmen mit denen von meinem Radoneye überein.
